My name is Connor Crosby – a student filmmaker, editor, and website developer – looking for a summer internship from June to August 2012. I live in the Boston, Massachusetts area and am looking for an internship at a production or post-production company, freelance filmmaking business, television studio, or anything that will allow me to gain experience in the filmmaking field. My “dream internship” would be at a company that specializes in both production and post-production that will allow me to help on set and help during post (whether it be logging all the media, making a rough cut, or just sitting by and watching). This past summer (2011) I interned for a post-production company called EngineRoom Edit in Boston, MA and briefly before that I was a production assistant for 2pm Productions. I have also volunteered at Burlington Cable Access Television in Burlington, MA where I help direct TV shows, edit videos, operate camera, and more. Plus, my high school has a TV station where I have actively helped out and interned.
As I mentioned before my name is Connor Crosby. I will be attending college in the fall (2012) as a freshman. I, as well as many of my teachers and peers, would say that I am no ordinary student. I have gone above and beyond normal expectations for both high school and college students (remember I have yet to even attend college).
Since the age of 10 I have been making home movies, short films, and even award-winning documentaries. One of my most recent documentaries, “Hard Truth, Levity and Hope”, was showcased at the Chagrin Documentary Film Festival and UNSPOKEN Film Festival. Again, I have yet to start college. Pretty cool, huh?
I’ve also been active in the post-production community. On Twitter, I have become friends with dozens of professional editors from around the world. I own two websites for video editing – FinalCutWhiz.com and EditingWhiz.com. Final Cut Whiz features tons of articles for learning Final Cut Pro (X) and EditingWhiz is a website that covers almost anything that has to do with video editing. Final Cut Whiz gets over 15,000 page views per month and EditingWhiz just launched! Pretty amazing for an under-graduate, right?
In addition to filmmaking, I am also a web developer. I know my way very well around HTML and CSS but still learning PHP. And I am a huge WordPress fan! I have partnered with a website designer and own a company that specializes in web design and development.
In the future, after I have gone to college, I would love to work in Hollywood. Yes I know, it sounds a little cliche. But that is what I really would like to do! I see myself as either a director or editor.
